Electrodes cap either side of the Proton Exchange Membrane and are responsible for carrying the electric current. An electrolyte between the electrodes carries the hydrogen ions while not letting the electrons through.  
PEM fuel cells have been mainly used for space applications.  But there are many  researches being carried out in many parts of the world to reduce the cost of these PEM fuel cells for use in transportation, homes, back-up power, and laptops, to name a few applications.

ElectroChem's  PEM Fuel Cell Hardwareis available with or without the MEA, allowing the customers to test and evaluate their own various materials and components.  The PEM Fuel Cell hardware is designed for ease of use and many re-assemblies.   In addition to our regular offering of these PEM Fuel Cell’s , ElectroChem also manufactures these PEM Fuel Cell’s according to the customers’ specifications.

PEM Fuel Cell - Stack
The power output of a single PEM Fuel Cell is limited.  Therefore, in order to raise the amount of energy coming from the PEM Fuel Cell, multiple cells are needed. PEM Fuel Cell stacks are multiple PEM Fuel Cell’s attached in series.  Along with offering a 50W PEM Fuel Cell stack, we also offer custom stacks that let the buyer determine the total output power.
